When you want to connect your domain to your website you have 2 options: updating your DNS Host Records or updating the nameservers. You will see the procedures for both options listed in this article.
Option 1: Update your DNS Host Records
Your new hosting provider (e.g. Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, or Godaddy) will provide you with your new "host records". Please, follow these instructions so that you can update them on our system so your domain points to their servers.
- Log in to your dashboard and go to the Domain and Email section. You can use this link: Click here to go to the Domain & Email section.
- Click on the "Manage" button that appears on the right of your domain name.
- Scroll down on the window until you find the “Manage host records” section. Click on “Add new record”.
- Add the DNS records that your website provider has issued to your domain and click on the checkmark button.
(Your website provider will give you the information on what to add here in order to connect your domain to your website). - Wait up to 24-48 hours for the changes to take effect and then follow up with your domain provider to complete the connection process.
Option 2: Update Nameservers
Follow the steps below to update your Nameservers.
- Log in to your dashboard and go to the Domain and Email section. You can use this link: Click here to go to the Domain & Email section.
- Click on the "Manage" button that appears on the right of your domain name.
- Disable the “Transfer Lock”.
- Click on the “Edit” button on the Nameservers box.
- Select the option “Use your own nameservers” and then click on the “Add New Nameserver” button. Then, type in the new Nameserver(s) provided by your website host and save the changes.
It's important to note that changes made to nameservers can take up to 48 hours to reflect, but once it is done, your domain will be connected to your website provider and you will be able to complete the setup on their end. If you require any additional assistance after this step, you will need to contact your new website provider.
